In the hills of Riolo Terme, in the province of Ravenna, lies Nasano Farm, run by the Gardi and Bertoni families. The reputation of the farm has risen considerably over the last few years, for its agrotouristic activities and wine production, Sangiovese and Pignoletto primarily. The farm has also implemented a re-evaluation of the local recipes, customs, habits and ancient rituals.
Nasano Farm Gardi and Bertoni’s farm, Tenuta Nasano, stretches over a 42ha area between Castelbolognese and Imola. The farm sells the wines, extra-virgin olive oil, jams and marmalades produced within its boundaries. Furthermore, Nasano Farm offers the opportunity to reserve a table to taste the products in season and assess their freshness and wholesomeness. Furthermore, the farm promotes initiatives on food, wine and local culture.
Nasano’s red and white wines The vineyards cover 23 hectares of the farming area. The excellent composition of the soil, the good diurnal temperature variation and the cool breezes from the Adriatic Sea give the wines an intense aroma and colouring, in a wide array. Bottled wine comes in thirteen types, with an annual production of 30,000 units. As for cask wine, the number rises to 18 types, spanning dry, semi-sweet, sweet, passito, still, sparking and slightly sparkling. Sangiovese is perhaps the predominant grape variery, followed by Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon. Two thirds are white grapes. Albana was the first to be awarded a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG), whereas Grechetto Gentile is used to produce Pignoletto, a fresh and fragrant wine. Trebbiano Romagnolo fits sparkling wine.
