The Wine Road of Vermentino di Gallura CGDO
Gallura is the northeastern-most part of Sardinia, a trove of good food and wine, tradition and culture. These elements are connected by means of the Wine Road of Vermentino di Gallura CGDO, a series of itineraries that must be tread making use of all the human senses. The jewel in the crown of Gallura is the Vermentino wine.
Vermentino: the terroir
Vermentino has found a perfect terroir in the weathered granite terrain of Gallura. The production of Vermentino has grown dramatically over the past twenty years and has become one of the most popular white wines in Italy.
It has a hay-yellow colour with green tinges and elegant bouquet, with hints of quince, acacia blossoms and slight notes of bitter almonds. It is dry and mellow to the palate. The Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin comprises Vermentino di Gallura Superiore, Sparkling, Passito and Late Harvest, all of them obtained from at least 95% Vermentino grapes.
