Siamaggiore salutes the 26th Artichoke Festival

The 26th Edition of the Artichoke Festival will be held in Siamaggiore, province of Oristano, Sardinia, from 10th to 11th March, a two-day event with a number of food tastings, exhibitions, conventions, seminars, music and folk performances.

It is a great opportunity to sample the local dishes. The Festival will open on Saturday 10th, with a conference about the digital boundaries of agriculture. From 8 pm, artichoke-based dishes will be available at the food stands. On Sunday 11th, folk dances will be performed in the streets of Siamaggiore.

The artichoke is the king of winter vegetables in Italy and is very well appreciated for its antioxidants and nutrients. It is rich in vitamin C, fibre and iron and it is know for its medical properties, especially in traditional Chinese medicine. The Sardinian artichoke varieties are among the most valued and their tender leaves are particularly suited for salads.
